Despite
a venue change from their last show’s
beach location to the in-town location,
the Summer Bash produced a fun family
atmosphere to enjoy the start of a holiday
weekend. With a bill heavy on local talent
plus veteran Reggae legends Third World,
who delivered what the crowd came to hear.
The
show started early with Rapa Nui holding
their own, despite the crowd just starting
to come in. Next up came HYH Clique armed
with The Hawaiian Hip Hop sound putting on
a solid show for an up and coming group.
Ace
Sizzle from Hilo was up next with tracks
from his newly released CD joined on stage
by Shane Vincent of Sudden Rush showed
they are also force to be reckoned with on
the Hawaiian Hip Hop scene. If One
Slap Entertainment opens a recording act
label, there is a lot of real talent on
this island to be nurtured, mentored and
brought into the big leagues.
Ace
was followed by Major Jones who came in
with authentic Hip Hop sounds with a
standout track, “Haters” which went
over well with the audience.
Reggae
legends Third World were the de facto
headliners with original headliner Pit
Bull acting more like a Mutt and not
showing up for the show.
Being
the veteran legend act they are, they
indeed saved the day delivering a powerful
performance with bass you could feel in
your chest 30 feet away.
Performing
their hits and new material, Third World
delivered and then some, more than taking
up the slack for the errant Pitbull.
One
Slap Entertainment proved they could take
a punch and keep standing to deliver a
knockout show.
